Dutch Talent

Within the Netherlands there are sufficient numbers of automotive education courses on offer. In the Netherlands companies share in the knowledge generated by educational institutes and, at the same time, contribute to the educational programme by offering work placements, graduation assignments and PhD research opportunities. The link between the market and education is thus strong, and it is a link that is reinforced by the Enablers programme within HTAS (see www.htas.nl). This knowledge transfer and development really does make the Netherlands a distinctive international player.
The large increase of electronics and embedded systems in cars demands multidisciplinary engineers. The introduction of hybrid vehicles and cars that run on new fuels requires engineers with a background in mechanics, electronics, computer science and chemistry. The industry needs highly qualified professionals in automotive technology. Within the HTAS Innovation Programme a new Automotive Masters course is being developed by the TU/e with the aim of providing highly educated automotive R&D staff.
Special automotive education courses and programmes are provided by the Eindhoven, Delft and Twente universities of technology as well as the two professional universities mentioned and the professional university in Rotterdam that has a focus on research & development and commercial business engineering.
More than 200 automotive educational programmes and courses are offered each year in the Netherlands covering: general management, engineering and design, the development of systems and products, materials science, electronics and production engineering.
Up-to-date programmes and commercial courses can be found on the online Education database.
