The load of new information systems in vehicles support, but also distract the driver. This calls for a new approach to the Human Machine Interface of vehicles. An integrated and adaptive HMI will tune the different functions to each other as well as to the state of the driver. This will increase driver comfort, reduce workload and decrease traffic risk and thus increase the added value of support systems for the driver.

 

 

 

 

Miortech Alert mirror Drivers pay a lot of attention to their mirrors. This makes mirrors a prime location to show information to the driver. By using the very novel electrowetting technology Miortech turns the mirror into a display. The mirror is composed of small cells that can be controlled to change color as pixels in a display. The mirror can be instantaneously dimmed or show warnings or other information. In future even showing camera views will be possible.

TomTom Carminat Carminat is the first integration of a TomTom in an OEM (Renault) dashboard. It meets all automotive quality and safety requirements while providing a breakthrough in pricing, updatability and ease of use for embedded navigation systems. It has a separate SD-card that allows customers to update the system on the home PC. They can even update their system, and that of others, themselves by uploading map edits through Map ShareTM. TomTom expects Carminat to boost the market for embedded navigation.
